New Season Info

The season kicked off as is tradition with the Chairman’s Evening, and what better than being entertained by our own club members, Jean Bartlett and Colin Cross.

Prior to this the ‘housekeeping’ on this occasion included reminders about subs, the fire drill (leave the clubhouse and meet under the railway bridge for us to head count), and a quick report on the summer activities.  The summer outings were a great chance to meet up with camera in hand and a bit of socialising thrown in for good measure.  The Photo Challenge was a big success, and we’ll hold an Autumn Challenge on 5th October.

Next week we need your entries handed in for The President’s Cup.  You may enter up to 2 Prints and 2 Digital Images, that scored Gold or Silver in the 2023/2024 Points Cup Season.  Rachel, Cris and Ian have a list of the eligible entries if you need to know.

After a few queries that arose at the end of last season, Cris ran through the system for Points Cup and Photographer of the Year Cup.  There are notes available with more detail, and check the handbook too.

The main difference to bear in mind when deciding what to enter, is everything you enter in all points cups and set subject competitions will have the points added to the Photography of the Year tally, however for Points Cup, only your highest scoring image, within a ‘class’ will be used from the best 6 of the 8 rounds of the Points Cup competitions.  So if on one night you score 2 x 10 in mono print, only one of theses scores goes towards that points cup, but if you score  1 x 10 in mono print and 1 x 10 in colour print, each score will go towards the respective cups.  Hopefully, this will enable you to be tactical in your entries!

For Points Cup there are 4 classes :
Mono Print
Colour Print
Mono Digital Image (DI)
Colour Digital Image (DI)
